FIFO Recruitment Agencies

The fastest way into FIFO is often not the job boards. It is the labour hire and recruitment agencies the mining companies use to fill the seats they don't fill themselves: the casual operators, the shutdown crews, the camp staff, the trade assistants. Register with a few of them, with your paperwork in order, and you are on the list they ring when a seat opens. None of them charges you anything, and nobody legitimate ever will.
What a FIFO recruitment agency is
A FIFO recruitment agency finds workers for mining employers and is paid by the employer, never by the worker. Most are labour hire: the agency employs you as a casual and sends you to a site it has a contract with. A few place you straight onto the mine owner's payroll instead.

Find FIFO recruitment agencies
The FIFO jobs recruitment agencies fill are advertised on SEEK (opens in a new tab), Indeed (opens in a new tab) and Jora (opens in a new tab) under the job, not the agency. Search "FIFO utility" or "FIFO dump truck" and read who placed the ad. The resource list has each agency's website and registration link.

The right agency is the one hiring for your job. Each one hires for the work its clients give it, so a cleaner and a rigger register with different agencies, and an agency that had no ad in October may have ten in December. The camp companies that hire direct, Compass and Sodexo, placed more ads than any agency, and they are on the utility page.
How do FIFO recruitment agencies work, and who pays?
Short answer
A FIFO recruitment agency works by employing you itself, usually on a casual rate, and placing you on a client's site for a roster, a shutdown or a project. The client pays the agency, so you never pay it anything. You register once, with your tickets and licence in hand, and the agency calls when a seat matches.
FIFO labour hire is the arrangement under most agency ads: the agency is your employer, the mine or the contractor is its client, and you work on the client's site at the agency's rate. The client pays the agency for your hours and the agency pays you, which is why the rate is casual and why the placement lasts as long as the client's contract. The how mining works page has who hires whom.
Before you register with any agency, have this ready

- A FIFO-format resume: tickets at the top, location and availability in line one, two pages at most. The resume page has the template.
- Your White Card and tickets, with the card numbers and dates
- Proof of your right to work: passport, visa or citizenship
- A national police clearance, current, or the readiness to get one
- Your driver's licence, manual noted if it is
- Two referees who know the call is coming, with current mobile numbers
- Tax file number, super fund and bank details for when a placement comes through
The pre-employment medical with the drug and alcohol screen comes at placement, not registration. You don't need it to walk in the door. You need it to walk onto a site.
Four questions to ask every fly in fly out agency
Ask them once, at registration, before you accept a placement.
- Casual or permanent rates for this job? The difference is your take-home, your super and your leave.
- How is super worked out and paid? A casual rate sometimes absorbs the super into the headline figure. Confirm it is paid on top.
- What is the path from labour hire to the client's payroll? Some placements convert, some don't, and the ad sometimes says which.
- What roster does this contract run? The ad might say 2:1, two weeks on and one off. The site might run it as seven day shifts, then a swap to seven nights. Ask before you accept.
The fee rule: agencies are paid by the employer
An agency earns its fee from the mining company or the contractor it places you with, and charges the worker nothing to register, interview or be placed. If anyone wants money from you to register you or put you forward for a FIFO job, that is the pattern of a scam, not an agency. The soft version is a "mandatory resume package" you must buy before they can put you forward, and there is no such package.
Queensland's law says it outright: agents there can't charge job seekers fees, or make them pay for a resume or interview coaching as a condition of finding work. Scamwatch, the federal government's scam site, lists a "recruitment fee" as a warning sign, and warns that scammers pretend to be well-known recruitment agencies. So ring an agency on a number you found yourself. The page for workers from overseas has the full pattern.
Which FIFO recruitment agencies take people with no experience?
Short answer
The FIFO recruitment agencies with beginner jobs in October 2026 were the drilling recruiters, with driller's offsider ads, and WorkPac and Programmed, with trainee dump truck ads. An offsider is the driller's labourer, and drilling companies train first-timers on the job.
The ads say it in the title. Aston Advantage's was "FIFO Driller Offsiders – No Experience Needed", Niche Resources' "Entry Level Drillers Offsider" and True Resources' "Entry Level & Experience Roles", all three listed in Perth. WorkPac and Programmed both advertised dump truck traineeships, paid jobs with the training on the truck built in, in Queensland and New South Wales. Those are the agency doors for a beginner, and the no-experience page has the rest.
The catch is the address. The entry-level agency ads name the city they fly from, as True Resources' "FIFO from Perth" did, and getting to that airport is usually up to you. A beginner applying from another state is applying to a shorter list, and the city pages, such as Perth's and Brisbane's, say which ads fly from where.
Fly in fly out recruitment for trades and shutdowns
A tradesperson registers with the agencies that crew shutdowns, the week or two when a plant is switched off for repairs, and the maintenance contracts. Techforce's October ads wanted riggers for an "October & November peak period", mechanical fitters in Brisbane and an electrician on 8:6 at Newman. WorkPac's Perth ad was for electricians on 8:6, Programmed wanted electricians at Perth Airport, and Hays had a fitter in Townsville.
Western Work Force's six October ads were all trades, listed in Perth: plumbers, carpenters, boilermakers and riggers. Torquejobs had fitters and boilermakers. Linkforce, a shutdown and maintenance contractor for Rio Tinto, BHP and Fortescue, is on the resource list too, though it had no ad with a figure in October.
Where are the FIFO employment agencies Perth and the other cities use?
Short answer
FIFO employment agencies in Perth are spread from the city to the industrial suburbs by the airport. WorkPac's office is in West Perth, Techforce's and Hays' are in the city, Evolve Talent's is at the airport and Torquejobs' is in Kewdale. Many of the same companies have Brisbane offices.
FIFO mining recruitment agencies Perth: walk in with the resume
FIFO recruitment agencies WA-wide take registrations online, but there is one thing a Perth applicant can do that an online one can't. Print the resume, look up the agency's office on its own website, walk in and hand it over, whether that's a city tower or a unit on Kewdale Road. It is not a hack. It is a person with a printed resume who is in the room instead of in the inbox.
FIFO recruitment agencies Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide
The big agencies advertise from more than one city, and an ad's place is either the city it flies from or the site itself. In October, Techforce's ads were placed in Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth, WorkPac's in central Queensland and Perth, and Hays' in Perth, Townsville and Rockhampton. For a reader in Melbourne or Sydney, the agency ad to look for is the one that names your city or "any capital city" as the departure point, and the Melbourne and Sydney pages have which ones did.
How much do FIFO recruitment agencies pay?
Short answer
FIFO recruitment agency ads in October 2026 ran from $37 an hour for camp utility work to $110 for a remote area nurse, apprentices aside. A casual rate has super paid on top and no paid annual or sick leave.
| Role | Advertised pay | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Camp utility, South Australia | $37 - $40 an hour | Jora, Techforce Personnel, Oct 2026 |
| Trainee dump truck operator, Hunter Valley | $38 an hour | Jora, Programmed, Oct 2026 |
| Driller's offsider, no experience, from Perth | $40 - $45 per hour, + Super + Penalties | SEEK, Aston Advantage, Oct 2026 |
| Trade assistant, 2:1 | $55 per hour | SEEK, Fetch Recruitment, Oct 2026 |
| Dump truck operators, from Perth | $57.79 - $60.89 p.h. | SEEK, Programmed, Oct 2026 |
| Electricians, 8:6, from Perth | $71 – $79 per hour + Allowances | SEEK, WorkPac, Oct 2026 |
| Electrician, 8:6, salaried, Newman | $151,200 Total Salary Package | SEEK, Techforce Personnel, Oct 2026 |
| Remote area nurse, Port Hedland | Up to $110 p/h + super | SEEK, Redstone Recruitment, Oct 2026 |
Only ads that stated a figure are in the table. Most don't.
To see what any of those comes to over a swing or a year after tax, put it into the FIFO pay calculator; the salary page has every job side by side.
An agency rate reads higher than a permanent one for the same job because the casual loading is in it, which is the agency's answer to no leave and no guaranteed hours. "Super paid on all hours", as one Programmed ad put it, means super on every hour of a twelve-hour shift, overtime included. "Flat rate" means the extra for nights, weekends and overtime is already in the hourly figure. Compare an agency's casual rate with the mine owner's salary by the year, not the hour, and the calculator does that sum.
What is it really like working through a FIFO recruitment agency?
Short answer
Working through a FIFO recruitment agency is casual work on someone else's site: a higher hourly rate, no paid leave, and a roster that can end when the contract does. The ads worth answering say what happens after the first few months.

The ads tell most of it. They say "casual pool" and "immediate starts" because the agency's job is to have people ready when a client calls, and "ongoing availability of swings" because the swings are not guaranteed. An agency casual on a good site can work a year without a gap; one on a shutdown contract works a fortnight and waits for the next.
What the ads don't say is that the site decides. The supervisor on site decides whether you are asked back, not the agency. Turn up, do the work, and the agency's next call is to you. If a swing turns bad, Lifeline is 13 11 14, any hour.
Where does a FIFO agency job lead?
Short answer
A FIFO agency job can lead to the client's own payroll, and some ads say when: after three or four months, on two Techforce ads in September and October 2026. A year of agency swings is also the site experience and reference the mine owners ask for.
The sign-over, moving from the agency's payroll to the client's, is the thing to ask about, because the ads that offer it say so. Techforce's Darwin gold mine ad in September offered "Permanent opportunities after three months", and its South Australian operator ad in October promised an "Ongoing/long-term sign over with client after short 4 mths with us". If the site wants you, the payroll changes and the job doesn't.
The other path is sideways, to a better agency. A year of swings with one agency is a reference other agencies read. The operator and trade assistant pages have where those doors go.
Which FIFO recruitment agency is right for you?
Two honest questions
- Casual now or permanent later? The agency rate is the bigger number and the smaller promise. If you need leave and a guaranteed roster, ask the sign-over question first and register with the agencies whose ads answer it.
- Are you in the departure city? The agency ads usually say where they fly from. If you aren't there, register anyway, but apply to the ads that fly from any capital, and read your city's page before you count on the rest.
We take no fees, commissions or referral payments from any agency named above.
Ready to register?
If you've read this far and still want in, get the kit in one folder. Then pick three recruitment agencies for FIFO work from the table, the ones whose October ads match your job, and put all three registrations in the same week.
Registered everywhere and ready to fly? The other question is whether the life fits. Six questions, three minutes, free.
