FIFO Roster Calculator

Pick your roster and the day you fly in. The calculator shows every day you're on site and every day you're home for the next year, and which birthdays and holidays land on a swing.

It's free, there's nothing to sign up for, and the dates you add stay on your own phone or computer.

How do you use the FIFO roster calculator?

Pick your roster from the buttons, or "Other" to put in your own days on and off. Then put in the date of any fly-in day, past or future. The calculator works out the rest, and remembers it the next time you open the page on the same phone or computer.

Add the birthdays, anniversaries and other days that matter, and each one shows whether you'll be on site or home the next time it comes round. If you don't know your roster yet, the FIFO rosters page explains them all, from 2:1, two weeks on and one off, to even time.

Can you put your FIFO roster on your phone's calendar?

Tap "Add my swings to my calendar" and you get a calendar file with every swing in the coming year, each one from your fly-in day to your fly-out day. On an iPhone, open the file and it adds the swings to your Calendar app. On Android or a computer, Google Calendar takes the file on the web, under Settings, then Import & export.

A shared family calendar is one of the easiest ways for a partner, the kids' school or the footy club to see the year at a glance. "Copy my next six swings" gives the same dates as plain text, for a message or an email.

Is there a free FIFO roster app?

There's nothing to install. The roster calculator works on a phone: open it in your browser, add it to your home screen, and it opens from an icon like an app. On an iPhone that's Share, then Add to Home Screen; on Android it's the browser's menu, then Add to Home screen.

Can you get your FIFO roster in Excel?

Tap "Download the year as a spreadsheet" for a file with one row for every day of the next year: the date, the day, where you are, the fly days and the dates that matter. It opens in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers, so you can colour it, print it or add notes of your own.

How does the calculator work out a year?

The calculator counts every rostered day as a day on site, at the shift length you pick. The comparison table works out an average year on each roster, with the same sums as the pay calculator: 2,920 hours on 2:1, 2,503 on 8:6 and 2,190 on even time, at twelve-hour shifts. The totals at the top count the next twelve months day by day, so they can differ from the average by a few days.

Whether the travel days come out of your days off depends on the company, and real rosters can shift around public holidays and shutdowns. Check the roster in your contract, then put that into the calculator.
